Head Lice Found To Spread Disease

These findings show for the first time, the presence of clade E head lice in France. This study is also the first to report the presence of DNAs of several species of Acinetobacter in human head lice in France. Quoted by USA Pediculosis Association


The Acinetobacter superbug can cause diseases such as pneumonia and meningitis. Acinetobacter baumannii is a bacterium that can cause a range of diseases.


What this means is that when clade E is present in head lice certain diseases can be spread.
